It wasn't until their conviction decades later that
anyone thought to examine the twins' doll-collection more closely. Only then
was the 1964 disappearance in younger siblings Beth and Tammy -- to say nothing
of all the missing neighborhood pets -- finally explained. "Where those
little girls learned taxidermy," said a spokesman for the Sheriff's
Department, "we may never know."
