From Walks in London, Volume II, by Augustus Hare
NICHOLAS ROWE IN POETS CORNER
"The epitaph, by Pope, alludes to Rowe's widow in the lines:
To these so mourn'd in death, so lov'd in life,
The childless parent and the widow'd wife,
With tears inscribes this monumental stone,
That holds their ashes, and expects her own.
But, to the poet's excessive annoyance, after the stone was put up, the widow married again."
