From The Snow's Music: Poems, by Floyd Skloot
TRANSFORMATIONS
"The molecules in my brain
are no longer the same
as the ones that first knew
your smile, but the memory
of that moment remains,
My new skin remembers
your first touch, my reborn
heart the first steady beats
of yours against my chest.
The small oval window
in the wall of my ear,
where nothing is the way
it was then, still holds the sound
of your first sleeping breath."
